Tri-County Swimming Pool Association
Minutes of Meeting
March 12, 2002
The meeting at GCIT was called to order at 8:08 pm by Dan Driscoll. Minutes from the January 8, 2002 meeting were approved.
New representative, Rhys Haschert from Stratford was introduced.
Swimming
The qualifying times are being reviewed and are will be finalized by the May meeting. The 11-12 and 13-14 boys times will probably be slower. The new times will be one the web page.
B meets should be informal and both clubs should be in agreement with how they should be run. Tri-county qualifiers cannot swim in B meets and the B meet rules will be in the June packet.
Official clinics will be held in June. Burt German will run them. The dates have not yet been finalized.
There will be no recall for false starts at the Championship Meet, however swimmers will be brought back at dual meets. This will be covered at the officials meeting.
Computer
All clubs should be upgrading to Team Manager II for Windows. This can be ordered from the Internet. The computer training classes will be held at Carusi Middle School on May 21 and May 22 at 7:00.
Championship Meet
Covered Bridge is hosting the Championship Meet. The meet directors are Lou Moffa and Joe Maniaci. They will have a patriotic theme.
Old Business
The rule change proposed by Art Kollmeier that all relays be official was voted on. 30 reps were present and all voted in favor of the proposal. We then voted on how to score the relays. The first proposal was to score the relays 5-3-1. This was voted down 16-14. We then passed the motion to score the relays 7 points for the winning relay, 0 points for all other relays
Dan Driscoll’s proposal that we change the distances for the 15-18 girls IM, backstroke, and breaststroke to conform with the distance progression of the boys was discussed. Many felt this would discourage non-USS swimmers from competing and many girls prefer shorter distances. The vote was 1 in favor, 29 against, and 6 absent.
New Business
We are in need of a volunteer in the A or B division to be the awards chairperson for the Championship Meet. We would like to set the schedule for the Championship Meet for the next 4 or 5 years so we may have a multi-year contract with GCIT.
The next meeting will be on May 14, 2002 at 8:00PM. The place is yet to be decided.
The Wedgewood meeting will be held on July 11, 2002 and the seating meeting will be at Woodcrest on July 25, 2002.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
