Tri-County Swimming Pool Association

MINUTES OF MEETING

JULY 10, 2003

The meeting at Wedgewood Swim Club was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by David Katz. Minutes from the June 10, 2003 meeting were approved.

Treasurer

Paul Patterson reports as of July 10, 2003 the balance in the treasury is $17,047.55. This reflects bills paid to Crown Trophy, clinics and rule books.

The bill for G.C.I.T. for tri county has risen to $13,000 (almost twice as high as last year). This is the reason for the increase in tri county Championship meet entry fees.

All reps must bring a blank check to the Woodcrest meeting on July 24th.

Swimming

Ron Kane is absent tonight. David Katz reports in his absence. Directions given to tri county reps about mailing meet sheets when you are the home team. Make sure legible copies go to all who need it. Refer to the representative responsibility sheet if necessary.

It has been noted that all pools must follow USA swimming rules in regard to pool markings. If you have questions, call Ron Kane or Burt German. This is a safety issue. Make sure there are 15 meter markers on lane lines and blocks are numbered l to 6 right to left when standing behind the blocks. Painted lane lines and "T" markings must be properly painted on all pools

Scoring table protocol – Rep must know what is happening. No coaches, swimmers or parents at the table. Rep should ensure that scoring table is friendly and sportsmanlike.

Stroke and turn judges should be wearing all white and making sure swimming is according to rules and not involve yourself in other issues around the deck.

Remember swimmers disqualify themselves, not the official. Be a straightforward and honest observer.

Parental confrontations – Try to keep atmosphere friendly. As a rep, try to diffuse these situations.

In a Z shaped pool, place judges may stand side by side.

Championship meet - Please e-mail Ron Kane with preferences for timing or stroke and turn. Assignments will be given out at the Woodcrest meeting.

Computer Report David Katz gives report in absence of Joe Crick.

Bring relay sheet along with week 5 meet sheets and cards to Dominic by the Sunday after the last meet.

Bring pink and blue cards with relay labels and list of up to 12 swimmers listed on the same side to Woodcrest meeting. At least four swimmers must be on each card.

Those e-mailing results to Dominic – separate 5th week entries from championship entries. They may be on the same disk but must be separated.
